Official judging begins at this weekend’s Preliminary Competition

(LOS ANGELES, CA) – For many of this year’s candidates of Binibining Pilipinas USA and Binibining Pilipinas Teen USA, this Sunday evening marks the beginning of the end of months of preparation, practice and perseverance, as the official start of the contest commences with the Preliminary Competition, to be held again at Porsche of Downtown Los Angeles, starting at 7:00 p.m.

New for this year’s prelims is the judging for the Best in National Costume award, a perennially crowd-pleasing part of the show that attracts entries from many of the top Filipino and Filipino-American fashion designers from around the world.

Kicking off the competition is the off-stage private interview.  Away from public view, twelve judges will have the chance to ask questions of each candidate and score them accordingly.   Each candidate will be hoping to make a lasting impression that will carry them deeper into the competition.

The show opens with the Parade of National Costumes, and each candidate will take her turn onstage, showing off her impressive creativity in each costume design.  This will be followed by the Talent Competition, in which five of the top performers will showcase their skills before a live audience.  The final segment of competition is the Swimsuit Competition, which never fails to draw the loudest cheers and is the most nerve-wracking part of the process for most of the ladies.   Voting for Binibining Photogenic and the Top Runway Model award will also be conducted simultaneously by the panel of judges.

The evening’s finale is the Bikini Runway Fashion Show, which gives the candidates an opportunity to model swimsuit fashions provided by the pageant’s Official Swimsuit Sponsor, Betsey Johnson by Malibu Design Group.

Sponsors for this year include Philippine Department of Tourism – Los Angeles, Porsche of Downtown LA, VIVA Entertainment, Hunt Enterprises, Philippine Airlines (Official Airline Partner), Eskaya Beach Resort and Spa, MD Sun, Discovery Suites, Majestic Vacations (Official Travel Partner), Republiq Dance Studio (Official Dance Studio), Carrington Real Estate & Mortgage, Estela Skin Care Clinic, Leelin Bakery and Café, Innovative Tours & Travel, Jeff Reyes (Official Photographer), Cherry’s Salon and Michael Vincent Academy (Official Hair and Makeup Sponsors), MoVe Fitness, Gerry’s Grill, Bobby Crisostomo and Ramie Dador (Official Events Photographers), Audio Push Entertainment (Official DJ), Pomp & Regalia Fine Jewelry, Integrity Escrow and media partner, Manila Express.  For the fourth straight year, this pageant will be broadcast in its entirety during prime time.  The pageant will air later this summer as a two-hour TV special on The Filipino Channel (“TFC”).
